Summer In the City

Happy Friday everyone!! This is my "back to work" outfit, that I wore wednesday on my first day at work since the end of june. It was so weird to be back, but it was good! It'll be nice to finally be getting a paycheck and I already have about 5 pairs of shoes on hold. Basically all I did was try on shoes...So much for making money?

I bought this dress last week, I wasn't really planning on shopping but meandered my way into the bay and saw a couple items I liked (like my 70% off swimsuit) and had to try them on. This dress is super light and breezy, and I love that it came with a really small studded belt. And while these shoes only have about an inch of heel it was my first venture into heels post surgery. It is so hard to start wearing them after you havn't for almost 2 months. I started small and am going to work my way up so I don't fall over and kill myself haha!

In your head, Zombies

A good fitting white shirt is something I really want; it’s so effortless, comfortable and goes with everything. In my searching for the perfect plain white shirt I found the perfect white printed shirt. With a zombie print. Correction: With a picture of Audrey Hepburn as a zombie print. I got it from threadless last Halloween, thinking how could I not get a zombie Audrey Hepburn printed tshirt?



It mostly gets worked into rotation when I’m studying long days in the library and want something ridiculously comfortable. But I thought there was no reason I couldn’t pair this super comfortable tshirt with a cute skirt and put a different spin on it. So I grabbed my favourite thrifted skirt and a small studded belt for a cute casual look. Both the skirt & top I altered myself, hemming the skirt and removing the collar on the tshirt. Great for walking about and sitting in my friends backyard relaxing on a hot summer day!

ps. Sorry about the shitty parking lot background, only way we could get some shade! Hello mall where I work.

What was the best of your week?!

Shades of Green

Morning!! On tuesday my brother and I went for our normal walk, then met up with our mum for a tasty lunch on the patio of a local cafe. When we were walking home we stopped in a park and went on the swings and everything. I honestly couldn't remember the last time I played in a park, it was fun to pretend to be a kid again! That's what summers for isn't it?

I havn't worn this skirt in ages!! It just feels a bit short without tights, but it was really hot that day so I just went with it. I figure I better enjoy the heat! I love the way the different shades of green go together. I really liked this, it was definitely a fun outfit for what we were doing that day.

Today I have to go to orientation for a cardiac rehabilitation program I'm starting, now that it's been 6 weeks since my surgery, I start a 6 week program where they teach me what excercises will help and not hurt me. I'm excited because I miss working out! And I know if I went to the gym on my own, I would probably push it and end up hurting myself. It should be interesting to see what they have to say!

Accidental Patriot

Hey there, I hope everyone had a great weekend (or long weekend) I definitely did. I'm pretty tired after everything we did this weekend, but I'm going to take it easy today, sit on the deck, read some magazines, then eat some spicy food with my friend!
So this is what I wore the day we drove out to St. Paul for the family reunion. Everyone knows I love this skirt, but I decided I wanted to print mix it with this striped ruffled top. And when we were driving there Bryce and my young Brother informed me that I looked like the american flag, which didn't even cross my mind while getting dressed. So that was the running joke between the boys that day.
While I liked this outfit when I was wearing it, looking at the pictures I don't feel this is as flattering as I thought it was at the time. Going through the pictures it was hard to find a couple that I actually liked. Post surgery, my body always changes a bit, even if it's just bad posture because of pain and how I carry myself, but I find things don't look the same as they did before. Annnyways I love the ruffled detail on this top, but the top itself doesn't fit very well so underneath a skirt it's better. And as much as they may think I look like a flag, I love the print mixing of stripes and polka dots.
